2,4-Dichloropyrimidine Usage and Synthesis

Uses

Used in the production of drug arabinoside hydrochloride.

Building blocks for drug chemical synthesis; building blocks for Suzuki coupling, alkylation and other reactions

Production method

Originated from chlorination of uracil. Add uracil, phosphorus oxychloride and dimethylbenzene to the reaction pot,
heat to 130℃, reflux for about 45min, cool slightly, and place in crushed ice to precipitate a purple solid.
Filter while hot and undissolved,wash with ice water, and vacuum dry to obtain a purple crude product.
Decolorize with petroleum ether(boiling range 60-90℃) and recrystallize to obtain 2,4-dichloropyrimidine.
